  86.   o Read the first two chapters of the Paradox Network Administrator's
  87.     Guide and the chapter on "Other" Networks.

  95.     On some networks the child directory cannot have greater rights than

  98.   o Have every user reference shared directories by the same logical
  99.     drive name (NOT C:\something).

  101.   o If on a non-dedicated network such as LANtastic, do not let users
  102.     work from the server via a physical drive name such as C:, but
  103.     rather make sure to work from logical drives like E:.

  105.   o Create a PARADOX.CFG for each user as per the Network
  106.     Administrator's Guide chapter "Configuration".
  107.  
  108.   o Once installed eliminate PARADOX.CFG from the Paradox system file
  109.     directory since each user will have their own copy.

  111.   o On most Networks of type OTHER use -SHARE option to start Paradox
  112.     (Paradox -share).  This will usually mean that you have to invoke
  113.     the DOS SHARE command as well.
  114.  
  115.   o If you are using Paradox version 3, substitute "Paradox3" where you
  116.     read "Paradox" above.

  153.    What are the causes for the message "Unable to record lock unlock
  154.   Paradox.Net"?
  155.  
  156.   o Insufficient rights in PDOXDATA directory.
  157.  
  158.   o Linking or mapping statements do not match the location specified at
  159.     install time for the Paradox.Net (Run Nupdate.exe from the \Paradox
  160.     directory or the install disk to reset location, or redo network map
  161.     or link statements).

  163.   o Finding someone else's PARADOX.CFG file along PATH at startup.
  164.  
  165.   o Presence of a leftover *.lck file due to someone abnormally exiting
  166.     Paradox.  (With no one in Paradox the presence of a *.lck file
  167.     indicates an earlier problem.  When no one is in Paradox you can
  168.     delete any *.lck files or even the Paradox.net file to start
  169.     afresh).

  171.   Why the message "Not enough disk space to complete operation"?
  172.  
  173.   o On networks, Paradox disk space requirements refer to the User's
  174.     PRIVATE directory.  You need between 2 and 3 times the size of free
  175.     disk space available in the User's PRIVATE directory for the tables
  176.     in question.  Use Tools/Net/SetPrivate to test Private Directory
  177.     location.

  179.   Is there a way around the message "Sharing Violation"?
  180.  
  181.   o This message may occur with multiple users (or sessions such as in
  182.     Microsoft Windows) sharing the Paradox system files.  This message
  183.     has been reported on Networks such as Banyan's Vines and Lantastic
  184.     from Artisoft.  Another symptom of the same problem is when a second
  185.     session cannot start Paradox.
  186.  
  187.   o One method of getting beyond this message is to use the DOS ATTRIB
  188.     Command to set *.EXE Files within the Paradox directory to READ ONLY
  189.     (eg. ATTRIB +R *.EXE  from the Paradox directory prompt).
